Despite the coldest day on record in May, softball traveled to Wills Point as planned and played their playoff game yesterday.
Playing against Whitehouse, who defeated Waxahachie last week, the Leopards fell behind in the first inning, allowing three doubles and two runs. Although senior pitcher Brittany Lewis earned back one run with a home run, the first inning finished with Whitehouse in the lead 2-1.
However, Whitehouse didn’t stay in the lead very long. After another home run by Lewis and several two-out rallies, the Leopards run-ruled Whitehouse 14-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The second game of the two out of three game series will be played tonight at Wills Point Park, at 7 p.m. If the Leopards win tonight, they will play either Ennis or Royse City in the Regional Quarterfinals next week.
