From the football field to a cruise ship, the Majestics have performed in a variety of venues. And while the days of dance will end in high school for most of the 24 girls, senior Nicole Andrews plans to take her dance talent to college.
“With my sister and I, it was always something we did together, so I grew up dancing with her, and it was a way to build relationships with other dancers too,” Andrews said.
Starting dance when she was 3 years old, Andrews was able to compete in competitions and dance with her sister, helping her to develop relationships and skills.
“I would probably say most of my friends are in dance,” Andrews said. “Also, being a Majestic, all the Majestics have become my friends.”
Although there are many different styles in Majestics and dance, Andrews has benefited from being part of the Majestics. Unlike dance, the Majestics give students a different opportunity by allowing students, like Andrews, to help choreograph and also learn from other girls.
“I love working with the girls who are passionate about being a part of Majestics and progressing toward our performance goals,” Majestics director Fela Lowrance said. “Growing young dancers into a strong unit that really fights to be the best collectively, is an amazing experience as a dance director.”
While Andrews has been a part of Majestics, she has also trained at many studios in the area, and also plans to have dance lead her later in life. In college, she will plans on majoring in dance, earning a Bachelor’s degree and a Fine Arts degree while she is there. Although Andrews is not certain in what her future will be, dancing has become a part of her life.
“Watching her dance has really inspired me because she is able to show her passion through dance,” junior Allie Dillard said.
