A slow start on the road didn’t prevent the varsity boys basketball team from moving to 8-0 in district play as the Leopards tamed the McKinney North Bulldogs 42-25.
The first quarter featured an absence of scoring, with only 13 total points being put up by both teams, and the Leopards on top 8-5.
The pace picked up a bit in the second quarter as seniors Trevor Eckard and Jake Flaggert helped the Leopards open up a 23-12 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs rallied a bit after after the break, narrowing the lead to 33-23. But then in the fourth quarter the Leopard defense went into lockdown, giving up just one basket. From there, the offense did just enough to help the Leopards pull away for the win, remaining undefeated in district play.
