The presidential election is Tuesday, but millions of people across the country are already done placing their vote courtesy of the early voting process.
Here on campus, it’s no different as voters are looking to avoid what is anticipated to be long lines on election day.
“I think its definitely a good idea to vote early,” U.S. history teacher Tara Evans said. “Beat the crowds.”
Some voters are ahead of the game and have already cast their vote for the upcoming election.
“I am decided and I didn’t want to wait in all of the lines, so I already voted,” AP English teacher Natalie Page said. “It’s just easy to go and do it early.”
Many voters know that the early voting option is a huge convenience but government teacher Jeff Kear sees the importance of having a designated election day.
“There’s an idea of participating in government as a communal event. It’s an event that brings us together as a people and that having an election day is one of those things that does bring us together,” Kear said. “However, early voting is more convenient and if you know who you’re going to vote for 3 weeks before the election why should you have to wait. There is that advantage that it simplifies your life with more opportunities to vote.”
