New head football coach Matt Green is bringing more than just years of experience to the football program this year. He has brought from Lake Travis High School the offensive and defensive coordinators from his previous coaching staff.
The change in the coaching staff has resulted in the loss of many talented and loved coaches.
“We began our football careers with these coaches and we are all really close to them so we’re pretty upset to see them go,” junior Brian Hesson said.
However, the players feel good about next year’s season with the new coaches.
“We are confident that Coach Green will help us to have an awesome season next year,” sophomore Daniel Sefcik said.
Some are more concerned about the transition to new coordinators.
“It will take some time to get used to the new coordinator’s coaching style, but we are adjusting,” junior Thomas Kotecki said.
Coach Green and his coordinators have intense workouts for the team to keep them in shape until the season starts.
“We are in the weight room a lot more now with Coach Green,” junior Brandon Scott said. “He even turns off the air conditioning so we don’t have any extra luxuries that we wouldn’t normally have in a game situation.”
Even though the new coaches have rigorous workouts, there is much excitement between the players about the upcoming season. However, Coach Billy Thompson, Coach Jason Reagan, and Coach Eddie Parmer will still be missed dearly.
“We’re going to miss them so much, we’ve grown up with them so it’s like losing a family member,” sophomore Chochy Luce said.
