After last year’s Winter Formal disappointment, which was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales, Student Council has been working hard to make sure this year’s Sadie Hawkins is a hit.
The theme, “Swingin’ in the Snow Casino” is supposed to represent a 1920’s casino, and activities have been planned accordingly. In addition to dancing, a poker table, blackjack table, and craps table will be set up and run by a school-oriented casino company. Dealers will use fake money and coins, which can be exchanged later in the evening for prizes such as 2 free prom tickets or free A-Sells CDs.
Another exciting event will be a special performance by junior and rapper Alec Sells (A-Sells), who has made various CDs and music videos.
Part of the reason last year’s Winter Formal was unsuccessful was that the dance had not been advertised fully. However, this year, Student Council made various videos of what to expect at the dance and dozens of catchy posters placed around the school.
The Sadie-Hawkins will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 8 p.m. -11 p.m. in the high school cafeteria and commons.
