The new Allen High School football stadium has been a topic of conversation since plans were announced. The 18,000 seat stadium is to be finished in time for the 2012 season and the Leopards are going to be one of the first teams to play in the stadium.
“I think it’s going to exciting. Everybody has been watching it be built for two years so everybody in this area I think is pretty excited to see what that looks like,” Athletic Director Jim Bob Puckett said.
The Leopards will be playing their first game of the 2012 season, a neutral site game, against Hewitt Midway.
“They’re a large 4A who lost in the state championship to Lake Travis so they’ll be a great opponent,” Puckett said.
Students are all excited about the team playing in such a large stadium.
“I think it’s awesome that we get to play at the Allen Stadium,” sophomore Riley Bevan said. “I think it’s a good way for to bring the community together and get Allen and Lovejoy kids together.”
Playing on such a stage will be an exciting experience for the team.
“We’re extremely happy as a team to be playing in the Allen stadium,” junior Drew Scolaro said. “Knowing how we will be one of the first teams to ever play there is exciting. It will be like a playoff atmosphere which should make it a really good time and good game.”
