Choir is hosting their second annual Carol-O-Grams drive-thru experience on Dec. 11, with time slots ranging from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The event will take place in the front of the high school in a drive-thru style. Choir directors Cathay Koziatek and Kelly D’Souza organized the event.
“We used to go door to door and it was amazing,” freshman Rachel Dobbs said. “We’d sing little Christmas carols at their doors.” freshman Rachel Dobbs said.
The Carol-o-Gram experience was altered to a drive-thru style of caroling last year.
“The way it’s different is the way we’re doing it now has [the whole choir] together,” senior Will Craft said.“It used to be that we split up in groups and went out at night to these different houses, but the way we are doing it now, everyone is all together and the people come to us, which makes it easier on our part.”
Choir invites all community and family members to enjoy the show. The Carol-O-Grams experience consists of an appearance from Buddy the Elf from the movie “Elf” and photo opportunities with Santa.
“The cars come in and the first thing they get to do is get some hot cocoa, cookies, popcorn, or whatever we are serving,” Craft said. “Then they go towards the middle [of the event] and that’s where the whole choir sings Carol-o-Grams. Then they go further along and they get to have the a capella sing for them, which is more of a specialty group. At the very end, they can go and have a picture with Santa if they want.”
Drivers will stop at the different stations in the school parking lot to hear their Carol-o-Gram, recieve their goodies and take pictures. The event will provide baked goods, photo opportunities, hot cocoa and games for the family. Tickets are available in 30 minute increments and must be purchased ahead of time.
“I’m excited,” freshman Avery Smith said. “I know people really love Christmas and this will really start the season.”
