COOL Club creates cards for senior community: – Jordan doesn’t always have a lot to say during class, but I feel like I got to learn so much about her from this graphic. Just look at it. It’s so fun and vibrant. It screams COOL Club. While being a whimsical and playful graphic, she also captured the meaning of the story and conveyed it perfectly onto the graphic. Although she had to redo the graphic multiple times, she found a way to make a design that would work perfectly.

Column: R.I.P. (Rest In Prom): I really enjoyed reading this column. Layla invited the reader into her mind and shared her “senior sorrows” that no other class would know without actually living it. I will never understand what it is like to miss out on so many senior rituals, but I feel like I have a better understanding after taking a look into Layla’s mind. I loved when she included that “[there was] nothing to push [her] through the right of passage”. She used a great amount of similes and metaphors  to compare her experiences to something the readers might relate to. Overall, a great column.

Principal announces procedures for in-person school: Katilin is our “infographic specialis”. Need an infographic? Go to Kaitlin. I think that this is one of my favorite infographics that Kaitlin has made. It is so aesthetically pleasing while also being informative. To make this infographic, she had to go on a “scavenger hunt” around the school to find the newly placed signage indicating the proper protocol for the new school year. She never took a picture of anything, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. She put it all together and added some key information to create a masterpiece of an infographic. I remember seeing it on the site and saying “Where is Kaitlin?”. Truly a masterpiece of an infographic.

Featured Athlete: Sydney Bardwell (photo):I remember Jade running off with Olivia out of the newsroom with her camera. They were gone for a good hour before returning back with a huge smile on their faces’. What were they up to this time? Jade plugged her SD card in and the loading circle popped up into the middle of her screen. I heard a huge gasp and my heart nearly stopped beating. It was a good gasp though, like the one that says “I DID IT”, or “THIS IS SO GOOD”. Jade was so clever when shooting this photo. She gathered and placed just the right amount of props and even propped one up with a roll of tape. So ingenious. Her creativity left her with an amazing photo and my applause.

Column: P.S. I won: I’m pretty sure I teared up while reading this. All 989 words of this column were greatly essential and brought life to the story. I remember my freshman year talking about scoliosis and my 16 degree curve, but Lindsey definitely “one upped” me with her 45 degrees in two different places. She had previously written “A letter to my spine” which amazed me, but she keeps on getting better and better every time her fingers hit the keyboard. I got the privilege to make the graphic for this column. This required great thought for such an extraordinary column. Lindsey sent me pictures of her S-shaped spine and her newly straight spine. I whipped it all together and created a graphic worthy enough to be the feature image of her column. In the end, Lindsey, you never fail to amaze me.
