Hockey skates into play
After a 0-2-1 start to the season, the Leopards look to move forward to playing Birdville High School on Oct. 18.
“I think as a team we will continue to get better and learn from each other and how we play over the season,” sophomore defensive player Jimmy Thorpe said.
The team is very young, consisting mostly of sophomores and freshmen.
“The team will have a very tough challenge ahead of them being a very young varsity team,” head coach Jason Day said. “However, with the talent they have if they can learn to play together and skate to their full potential they can beat every team in the league.”
The team has one practice a week for over two hours on Mondays. Their season lasts until February, with one game a week.
“I expect for the team to learn how to score goals using a team system and learn to play a puck control game,” Day said. “At JV it was easy for individuals to shine, now in varsity I expect a team performance to change the way we score. I know this team will adapt and end the season with a winning record.”
