Primary Election Results: Super Tuesday ended with former Vice President Joe Biden getting the most delegates, followed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Mike Bloomberg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren both dropped out. President Donald Trump received most votes on the Republican front with little opposition from Joe Walsh and Bill Weld.
Significance: The next primaries are on March 10. As more states vote, the leading candidates will become more evident. Since more candidates have dropped out since Super Tuesday, the upcoming primary will be important for the campaigns of Biden and Sanders as dropped out candidates will state their endorsements.
Nashville Tornado: Two tornadoes ripped through east Nashville early Tuesday morning, leaving 24 dead throughout Putnam, Wilson, Davidson and Benton counties. The damage, including wrecked buildings, indicated a category EF-3 tornado. The storm produced 155 mph winds that leveled buildings and powerlines, leaving 47,000 people without power.
Significance: Support from the Nashville community raised $350,000. Over 22,500 people volunteered through Hands on Nashville to help with the clean up. Celebrities such as singer Taylor Swift and Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson have shown support by donating money and creating a GoFundMe.
