Amy Smith, Incumbent – Position 2

The Red Ledger: Did you ever attend a Lovejoy school?

Amy Smith: I did not, no. I grew up in Richardson.

TRL: Do you have kids who attend a Lovejoy school? What grades are they in?

AS: I do, four kids. They are in 4th, 7th, 9th, and 10th grades.

TRL: How long have you lived in the area?

AS: We have lived here for eight years.

TRL: Do you have a website?

AS: Amy4lovejoy.com

TRL: What’s your job?

AS: I do business development and marketing for Commercial Bank of Texas.

TRL: Why did you decide to run?

AS: I actually ran three years ago for the first time because I had served in a lot of different faculties in a volunteer position across lots of different campuses and wanted to be able to serve the whole district.

TRL: What would you say are your main values?

AS: I think when it comes to a good leader in the school board they need to be informed and educated, invested, solution-oriented, level-headed, knowledge of work-service, and able to work collaboratively.

TRL: Did Ted Moore’s resignation affect your plans to run or your agenda at all?

AS: One thing I love to assure our community [of] is [that] we have such a strong leadership team, [and] that we’re very blessed to have very strong leaders, so even in his absence the district is still carrying along because of the strong leaders that are in place. It’s affected it in the sense that now we’re spending time finding a new superintendent, but we’re really excited about what the future holds.

TRL: Why do you think you would be a good addition to the school board of trustees for the next three years?

AS: I think it’s important to continue with strong, steady leadership for the intentions of being what’s best for the entire district, and really my focus is on what continues to be best for kids and all kids in our district.
