It’s that time of year again: Christmas trees and mistletoe, reindeers and fields of snow, gift giving suspicions and UIL One Act Play auditions. Auditions will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Friday at 6 p.m. in the theatre room. Audition packets and full scripts will be available in F110.
Jessica Brewster and John Davenport, head theatrical director and technical theatre director, have announced this year’s UIL One Act Play (OAP). Waving Goodbye by Jamie Pachino tells the story of Lily Blue, a 17-year-old photographer who loses her father in a mountain climbing accident, and must spend her 17th year with the mother who abandoned her.
Although the timing of the auditions may seem early, the directors have a reason for having them before the break.
“We audition before winter break in order to have a show and a production team before the UIL deadline for play submissions,” Brewster said. “It also gives us an opportunity to make schedule changes for the second semester and to give the actors ample time to marinate on the show, develop character studies, and get off book.”
Auditions are open to anyone and results should be posted by the end of the week. If you have any questions or concerns contact Brewster or Davenport.
