Early preparing and a lot of practice is what the Mock Trial team has done to ready themselves upcoming competition on February 2. The work began early in the school year and recently the team competed in its final scrimmage against Dallas Talented and Gifted Law Magnet school.
According to advisor Jan Delisle the team has improved since its first scrimmage and against Dallas Talented and Gifted, the students in mock trial improved their direct questions but work still needs to be done in the area of open and closing arguments.
Delisle believes the team is adequately prepared for Saturday’s competition and could make it to the state level for the first time in school history.
“The lawyers are going to have to be crisp, focused, and articulate,” Delisle said. “Our witnesses are going to have to be top notch. But we can do that, seriously, we’re good.”
