On the Spot: Students react to the $20 bill change

“I think it would be pretty cool just because we haven’t ever seen a woman on a bill, but the significance of having Presidents on a dollar bill is kind of tradition. I guess breaking tradition is OK sometimes, but in this case not so much.”

“I think that there’s no point in moving one of the important people that are already on bills and moving them off just to put a woman [on the bill].”

“I think it’s pretty cool since she’s a female and African-American, so it’ll be the first African-American on a dollar bill.”

“I would say that it’s great. There’s a women’s movement right now that is pressing for it, and I think that if they really want to have it then it’s fine. I’m not going to say anything that would say that I’m against it, but I’m also not 100 percent for it, because we’ve had it for so long.”

“It doesn’t really matter to me. To me, I’m fine with her being on there.”

“Since it won’t be activated until 2020, I think it’s a good idea to make it wait because 2020 is a special year for women’s suffrage. It’s the 100 year anniversary of women’s suffrage, so I think it’s the appropriate thing to do. She was a leader. She was pretty much a guardian angel.”
