Senior Jack Shore, who was earlier in the year bestowed the title of Mr. Fine Arts, is heavily involved in both the band and choir departments.
AT A GLANCE:
Instruments you play: saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, flute, piano, ukulele, and I sing
Favorite piece you’ve performed: Channel One Suite by Buddy Rich
Favorite class: Jazz Band
Favorite song: There Will Never Be Another You
LOOKING DEEPER:
The Red Ledger: What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
Jack Shore: I am in band, jazz band, A Capella, and varsity choir and have been for all four years of high school.
TRL: How has being involved with both choir and band helped you as a musician?
JS: Well choir has really opened up my ears a lot as far as blending is concerned and really ear training in general. Honestly, it has improved me a lot as a musician.
TRL: What are your hobbies?
JS: My extracurriculars are the basic the gist of my hobbies, however when I’m not doing something music-related I like to longboard. I don’t really know how I got into to it, I just bought one and decided to learn it. I have friends that like to longboard with me and in the summer it was a regular thing, not as much in the winter though.
TRL: How did you initially get interested in music?
JS: My brother played French horn in high school so really he’s the one who really opened my ears. That’s not a very interesting story but that’s how it happened.
TRL: What are your plans for the future?
JS: I’m planning on attending The University of North Texas for music. I would like to major in Jazz Studies and Music Theory and then after that I don’t know yet. I know they have a campus radio station that I plan to get involved with.
TRL: How’s your Senior year going?
JS: Not bad other than the fact I’ve gotten in pulled over by the police twice and gotten in a crash, but overall it’s been pretty solid.
