Looking Deeper:

The Red Ledger: What are your hobbies?

Abby Martin: I love calligraphy, addressing envelopes and making invitations, I also love keeping baseball stats and watching baseball games, specifically the Texas Rangers. I also like golfing and watching golf. Calligraphy was my senior project, and so I’ve really gotten into it this year. I came to love golf and baseball through watching them and playing them with my dad.

TRL: What activities are you involved in at school?

AM: I’ve been the girls golf team captain for the past 4 years, and have loved being a part of that atmosphere. I’m also the editor of the yearbook, and love the journalism environment as well. To go along with that, I am an FCA leader, and love fellowshipping with other Christian believers. I’m the vice president of the Spanish Club and Spanish National Honor Society and have a passion for the Spanish culture.

TRL: What are your plans after high school?

AM: I plan to attend Baylor University and major in Spanish. Hopefully after college I can teach Spanish and travel the world.

TRL: Why is FCA important to you?

AM: FCA is important to me because as a Christian, I am called to spread the gospel and go out and make disciples of men. FCA is an awesome outlet for me to share my faith, and also share the love that Jesus has for us all. I love being around like minded people- it is such an encouragement to me.

TRL: What about yearbook appeals to you?

AM: Yearbook has taught me so much about working with other people, and how to effectively lead other people. Being the yearbook editor has been really difficult so far, but I am constantly learning, and I know that when the book comes out in May it will be worth it.

TRL: How is the girls golf team doing this year, and how has your season been going?
AM: This year has been going really well for the girls’ golf team. We have a lot of new potential on the team, and I can definitely see the improvement in everyone on the team. I am having a good season so far- I have been putting up good numbers for my team and I look to keep it that way.
