Edgefest, the annual music festival, came to Toyota Stadium in Frisco last weekend.

More than 20,500 people turned out to dance, drink and lay out in the scorching Texas sun on Saturday for 102.1 The Edge’s 25th Annual Edgefest music festival at FC Dallas Toyota Stadium. The all day music festival featured a broad variety of music between alternative rock, DJ’s, hip hop and punk rock. There was something for nearly everyone at Edgefest, accompanied by a variety of vendors and outlandishly dressed characters ready to encourage a good time.

They day started out slowly as people trickled in from every entrance. The sun beat down on bikini clad festival attendees and left many crisp by 2 p.m. The bands alternated between two stages, a main stage (only available to those with a wristband pass), and the second stage (available to any ticket holder). Around mid afternoon more people flooded in and the bands started to liven up. Crowds became more rowdy and the artists amped up the energy.

Though the lineup was about as sporadic as it gets, there was absolutely something for everyone. Yelawolf, Robert DeLong and New Politics were specifically notable performers that played on the overcrowded second stage (which seemed to be where the party was at all day). The main stage played well know, but not quite as raucous headliners throughout the day such as Death Cab for Cutie, Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness and Modest Mouse, but brought out their headliner, The Offspring, to really liven things up by the end of the night.

The festival had an impressive number of attendees, but it seemed overcrowded with people. The bands alternated stages, which wasn’t the most practical thing with the amount of people at the festival. Many attendees had to leave artists’ sets midway in order to get a relatively decent spot for the next artist playing. The special effects were decent and pretty much standard for an outdoor music festival. The lineup certainly reflected the party atmosphere with a slew of bands and DJ’s that amped up the crowd, broken up by slower and less discordant artists.

The coordination of the festival wasn’t as thoughtful and organized as the festival could have been, but the Edgefest music festival was a good day with a lively event with a very impressive line up.
