If students are looking to apply to colleges, the Common App may be a resource for them to use.
“The Common App is for students looking to apply to colleges,” college and career counselor Randy Trevino said. “The school has a deadline, but it varies by school. The Common App itself has no deadline.”
The Common App is perfect for students who wish to apply to several colleges/universities across the U.S. Many East coast schools accept the Common App as their preferred application venue and a list of complete Common App-accepting schools can be found in Naviance or by visiting the Common App website.
Although the Common App is a tool for students to consider, ApplyTexas can be seen as more resourceful as all Texas public colleges and universities are required by law to accept the ApplyTexas application. By creating a profile, a student can apply to as many Texas schools as necessary by selecting a school and submitting any of the individual school’s preferred information.
“I used the Common App and ApplyTexas and it helped me apply to all the schools that I wanted to apply to,” 2014 graduate Hannah Drees said. “It made it a lot easier.”
For incoming seniors, Common App and ApplyTexas may be considerations when applying to colleges.
“I’ve heard a bit about the Common App,” senior Tommy O’Connor said. “I think it’s a good use when you’re applying to colleges.”
